The Quiet
In the midst of a deadly outbreak, a man returns home in search of family
Director's note
The Quiet was created out of a personal fear of losing my parents. Lies and secrets between us maintained peace in my household, yet shattered an image of a traditional upbringing. Silence separated us for years as I grew older. I understood my relationship to them as quiet contention as opposed to open and loving. I had no idea this environment would someday seep into my work so personally. This film is a reflection of isolation through inclusivity—my fear of losing a parent, both metaphorically and literally, through an exclusion of communication and its consequences. I share this uncomfortable story with you, not only to marvel at the power of unconditional love, but also to recognize the pain of our personal truths when left in silence.
